FAQs

Do I need a referral for a speech pathology assessment or therapy?

No. You do not require a referral to make an appointment with us. You can self-refer your child by simply filling out the contact form or calling us to make a booking.

What should I do if I suspect my child may be delayed but I'm not sure?

We recommend investigating any concerns instead of taking a wait-and-see approach. If you're not sure, you can talk to one of our therapists who can guide you in the best direction. We are able to complete a screen or assessment to put your mind at ease.

Other than the NDIS, can I access any funding for speech therapy sessions?

Most private health companies provide speech pathology rebates depending on your level of cover. Alternatively, Medicare provides some rebates through a number of different schemes but you will need a referral for a GP to access these.

I thought Speech Pathologists only work with lisps and stutters. Why has my child's teacher referred us?

Speech Pathologists are experts in language development, making them well-suited to work in literacy. Language is the foundation of reading and writing; therefore, Speech Pathologists can apply their knowledge to help individuals with literacy skills. This multidisciplinary approach ensures a comprehensive understanding of communication in all its forms.

Does My Child Need an Assessment?
